• $50 provides one hour of supportive listening, information, resources and crisis intervention for the community via phone, text and chat services.
• $100 provides basic household cleaning and essentials to establish a home for a formerly homeless neighbor.
• $1,000 supports 20 therapy sessions for a child who has experienced trauma.

Mary’s Center

Mary’s Center (maryscenter.org) provides health care, education and social services to approximately 60,000 people annually to build healthier and stronger communities. In response to COVID-19, Mary’s Center continues to work hard to prevent the spread of the virus by offering testing and vaccinations to community members throughout the D.C. region.

What a donation buys:

• $500 supplies 70 PPE kits, which include gowns, gloves, face masks and face shields, to administer COVID tests and vaccinations.
• $1,000 provides school-based counseling to a student in need of mental health support.
• $5,000 provides 50 patients suffering from chronic diseases with a health navigator to coordinate treatment, nutrition and social support services.

Mercy Health Clinic

Mercy Health Clinic (mercyhealthclinic.org) is a community-based health clinic that provides medical care, health education and medications—free of charge—to uninsured low-income residents of the county. In 2021, Mercy began providing health care, including vaccines and behavioral health services, to adolescents ages 13-17. The clinic’s medical services are delivered by volunteer physicians and a small staff of health professionals that reach over 2,500 patients annually.

What a donation buys:

• $250 provides cancer screenings, support and follow-up for five patients.
• $1,000 provides initial health screening, behavioral health assessment and required vaccines for 15 adolescents.
• $10,000 provides coordinated treatment, nutrition education and lifestyle education support for 150 patients managing diabetes, obesity and/or hypertension.

Volunteer opportunities:

• Ongoing: Volunteer to see patients (physicians/nurses licensed in Maryland); serve as an interpreter; or provide support for marketing/social media outreach.


Mobile Medical Care (MobileMed)

Mobile Medical Care (MobileMed) (mobilemedicalcare.org) provides high-quality primary health care for thousands of low-income, uninsured and underinsured Montgomery County residents every year. Staff and volunteer clinicians deliver linguistically and culturally sensitive care, integrated behavioral health and wraparound support. In response to COVID-19, MobileMed expanded its outreach, case management and remote patient monitoring, and implemented telehealth, including teletherapy, and vaccinations, working with community partners to address COVID vaccine equity.

• $75 subsidizes one patient’s medical visit.
• $500 supports one week of the MobileMed Women’s Clinic.
• $1,000 provides colorectal cancer screening and follow-up for 50 individuals.

National Alliance on Mental Illness Montgomery County (NAMI MC)

National Alliance on Mental Illness Montgomery County (NAMI MC) (namimc.org) provides comprehensive support, education, advocacy and public awareness to promote recovery so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives.

What a donation buys:

• $250 brings mental health education to your community through free presentations.
• $500 enables the recruitment and training of NAMI in the Lobby volunteers, who provide support and resources to family members with loved ones hospitalized for mental health crises.
• $1,000 helps provide free classes to English- and Spanish-speaking participants so they can learn about mental health conditions and gain support from peers.

Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, DC

Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, DC (ppmw.org) has served as a health care provider, educator and advocate to women, men and teens throughout the Washington, D.C., metro area for more than 80 years. The organization’s medical team provides a range of safe, reliable health care for all—including contraception and family planning, primary care, gender affirming (hormone therapy) care, behavioral health, telehealth services and more. PPMW also trains teens in reproductive health and STD/HIV, healthy relationships, healthy life-skills and prevention strategies.

• $100 provides insulin to a low-income diabetic for a month.
• $500 provides screening mammograms for 10 low-income women.
• $2,500 provides specialty dental care to one child who has previously lacked dental care.

The Tree House Child Advocacy Center of Montgomery County, Maryland

The Tree House Child Advocacy Center of Montgomery County, Maryland (treehousemd.org) provides an array of free services to child and adolescent victims of abuse and neglect and their family members. Services include mental health assessments and therapy, medical evaluations, forensic interviews and family advocacy, all provided in a safe and child-focused central location.
