Firefighters on Friday put out a large fire in an unoccupied Chevy Chase home that caused a plume of smoke that could be seen throughout the Bethesda area.

MCFRS was called to the house, which is under construction in the 7100 block of 45th Street, around 4:45 p.m. on Friday.

The three-alarm fire caused the floors inside the house to collapse, according to scanner traffic. The fire spread to the roof of a house next door. No one was injured, though firefighters reportedly had a tough time containing the massive blaze because it had time to spread to both floors of the house.

MCFRS Assistant Capt. Scott Graham said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
