In some households, every day is pizza day. But according to, tomorrow, September 5 is officially National Cheese Pizza Day, and that means a free pizza at Haven Pizzeria.

Between noon and 7 p.m., the restaurant will be shelling out 10-inch cheese pizzas, gratis, an offer that is limited to one pizza per person, dine-in or carry-out.

But since not everybody actually likes cheese pizza, vice president of operations Mike Dolinger is tweaking the holiday celebration by giving diners $9 off whatever they order (that’s the price of the single cheese pizza).

By the way, reports that today, September 4, is National Macadamia Nut Day. But, says Dolinger, “We don’t serve any macadamia nuts, so that didn’t work out for us.”

Meanwhile, Balducci’s is honoring International Chocolate Day with a week long celebration starting September 13. On September 21, sample chocolate, food and wine at the Bethesda store and from the 13th through the 22nd, enter to win a chocolate lovers’ gift basket.
