Just in time to extend your summer vacation, Nantucket’s Reef, a casual New England-style seafood restaurant, opens for dinner today in North Potomac.
The eatery, located in the former Stella’s restaurant, offers a wide range of reasonably-priced seafood dishes, including raw and baked oysters, stuffed cod, fried Ipswitch clams, fish and shrimp tacos, tuna and salmon salads, and several “lobsta” items, as the menu calls the crustacean. That would include lobsta and spinach queso, lobsta rolls, lobsta mac ‘n cheese and lobsta tails.
And in keeping with the New England accent theme, there’s also clam chowda and a crispy oysta BLT salad on the menu.
With the exception of the combination platter of a half rack of bbq pork ribs and a fried lobsta tail (at $24), everything on the menu is less than $20.
Six flavors of Nantucket Nectars juices comprise part of the beverage menu, and some of the signature cocktails are also made with them (i.e. the Nantini, with pomegranate pear juice).
Partners Christian Ekburg and Steve Deffinbaugh (see my blog, June 12, 2013) have created a stylish space, with baby blue walls, white wainscoting, model ships and other seafaring décor.
The restaurant opens today at 4 p.m. and will be open for dinner only for the first few weeks (4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday).
