Pamela Kaufman is moving her vinyasa yoga classes from her Silver Spring home and opening Allay Yoga, a 1,100-square-foot studio on Armory Avenue in Kensington on Sept. 5. Allay Yoga will have nine instructors, including Kaufman, teaching a full complement of yoga classes— vinyasa, restorative, gentle, family, and even one for artists with Kensington interior designer, Gloria Capron. And, it will feature one class you don’t run into every day—doga, a class for dogs and their owners.

Kaufman and Kelly Spring of Spring Training for Dogs will lead the doga class for up to six dogs and their owners on Saturdays. The owners will get gentle stretches led by Kaufman and a chance to spend some quiet time communing with their animals. Spring will work with the pets on self-calming techniques and breathing exercises. “I see dogs at times with poor impulse control,” she says. “We teach them how to calm themselves in novel situations.”

The doga class is $22. Drop-in yoga classes start at $17, with multi-class packages available. Check www.allayyoga.com for more information, a schedule and class sign-ups.
